I don't know the rules of eBay anymore to know if it would work for you, but when I sold portraits I would print off some note cards that had my artwork on them and sell them on eBay. I would promote my own website that way to get people to look at my portraits to encourage them to purchase a commission. I also sold portraits as well through eBay but I did the note cards a lot and they sold very well...it's just the shipping that ate into my profits.

Another thing I did to help draw traffic to my portrait page was to create other pages and then "advertised" my portrait page on there. Such as baby shower games. I had a cute page of games (this was over 20 years ago so it got a lot of hits back then) listed and then I also did a webring for my local area and MY webpages were all in there. Portraits, a pet page I kept up and the baby shower games. I thought of catchy things that people might search for and built a page for it to give them info they were looking for. Then I had links to my portrait page on the side or bottom.

My buyers are mostly parents. These are moms and dads with a large social circle.
But besides moms and dads, these are people who have their work, their status in society. I'm afraid that I do not even guess where it will be possible to find my potential buyers.

Word of mouth will get you into their circle. Giving them a good product that they trust and then passing off a coupon for them to give to a friend for a purchase will help get your name out there.
