Well I'm in real need of help with the promotion of my forum.
I mean, I have put a nice template, make the proper seo changes, submitted my link to directories and various kind of sites, posted some useful and unique content.

But, people isn't registering, and if they do, thet aren't posting anything. As of now we have around 130 posts, which I think are enough to get this thing going.

Any advice on how to improve my forum, is really appreciated.

Thanks.

Well, the process of gaining members is the hard part. You've just got to be patient. Your forum isn't going to become active overnight. It'll take time and dedication to gain members. Try hosting competitions that give cash prizes. That always sparks a members interest.

hipromx, the domain name may be causing your some issues, it's not exactly easy to remember and it's not an easy name for people to tell their friends about. Have you ever considered moving it to a different domain?

We actually have a couple of contests for cash and for hosting. In that sense, I think, we're doind fine.

Not really, I have worked a lot with that domain, And if you think it seriously, if people really like the site, they'll either bookmark it or make an effort to remember it.

Honestly, I can't remember the link, the name confuses me.
The forum looks great though.

Well one thing I did sometime during the first month of having my blog hosted on paid hosting was submitting my blog to various social bookmarking sites. (2 that I remember submitting to were Stumble Upon and Digg; I know there are more, but I don't remember them.).

So give social bookmarking a try. Over the course of 1 and 1/2 months later I've gotten 41 visits just from social bookmarking alone, which may be small but can help get the word out about your forum. So give it a shot.

Here's the link to the social bookmarks I remember using (remember there are other's so you may have to search):
http://stumbleupon.com
http://digg.com

Good luck,
Andy.

Hey Andy,

I've found your tips very useful, but how do these sites (stumble and digg) work as an advertising method? What do I need to do?

It's still difficult to remember and for people to tell their friends about. People shouldn't need to make an effort to remember your site name, it should be brandable and easy for them to remember. Can you think of any really big and successful sites that have difficult to remember hyphenated names?

What you need to do is go to these websites, create an account and then add your website into the url submission. Your site will be reviewed and then over time after review, you will get some traffic from them.

Try Twitter, use one of the many tools you can get and increase your followers as much as you can.
Make sure then that you tweet regulaly about your site and any post that gets made, that helps.
