How to separate two picture with a diagonal line in Photoshop?

I am trying to figure out how do I put images with a diagonal line separating the two. Can anyone help me out or provide me a link with the tutorial for the same? The picture I have attached is the end result I am trying to do. The white space the separates the two image, not a straight line for slightly tilted but the pictures aren't rotated.

There are probably a few ways to do this. But I would first try using the Polygonal Lasso Tool and, while holding down Shift, cut the images to your desired shape.

I tried using Polygonal Lasso Tool and was able to cut out a dummy image. However, is there a way to make it a template (lets say converting into Smart Object) so that I don't have to go through the same process every time I edit the pictures?
