how do i start a promotion forum?
anyone reccomend some services?
free would be the best.

Well I know a good bit how to start a promotion site..frist you mainly want to use phpbb3, good modifications made for promotion sites. 🙂

I dont think he wil need..graphic team or affiliates ads...affiliate afs is the best for staff affiliates like FP. 🙂 and graphic team alot of people know how to do graphics..so you would end up having alot of members on it..so to my opinion that would be a bad..idea.

You have to upload and add modifications yourself with phpbb3 or use the automod (Not Recommened)

But you can find and download any modifications you need here.

Mate, stop and think before you do it. There are tons of these sites being created right now, which puts the heat on high. If you can't keep up you're done, there won't be a tomorrow. People are looking to come out of this in a few months with one or two BIG promotion sites that will have the ability to compete with FP in a few years. Chances are one of these sites will face issues, and will die off within the year.

Fact: It is no longer worth making a promotion forum on a free host, others will be picked over you.

Fact: A domain name is 100% needed or you will be overlooked.

Fact: When this is all over, only a few will have made it, the chances of this are extremely low.

It isn't worth it.

I hardly get any new members let alone posts. Promotion forums are outdated. Community Forums are the most used forum and people seem to join those more than they join promotion forums.

I agree with Nathan...its one hell of a lot of time and work, you need to be 100% commited to what you are doing.
Maybe you should think about getting some tech help before you jump in feet first.

Buy a VPS and set up everything yourself, that'll teach you just about everything you'll need to know as an admin. Oh, and don't use any fancy CPanels, do it all threw SSH

Seriously, you have to have some clue to what you're doing tech wise before you just jump in. I can't solve every tech issue, but I can figure a lot of them out if I try, it's something i've always been able to do.

Even if he does help, he might not as he has his own promotion site, your going to have to spend money on a payed host and domain... you can't do it free and then your going to have to make it unique...

After that your going t have to really fight for a place in advertising sites. Your going to need to advertise like stink and get your PR rank as high as possible!
