I want to switch host soon to hawkhost from sitefrost. I have cPanel. But I don't know for sure how, I use mybb 1.6 so if someone could tell me in steps what to do to make the switch work that would be great!

You have to first make a full backup, and then on your new host, just restore that backup

lol is it that simple ?

Also DNS change riight in your account of your domain ? Mine is Godaddy so I got to change nameservers, what are the nameservers of hawkhost ?

You don't have to change anything for it. All you have to do after you restore you backup, you have to change your DNS to sitefrosts DNS.

yeah, my guess is you'd just need to make a backup and then move it your new host.

Alright guy's thanks for the help!

You mean to change it to the DNS of hawkhost lol ?

I will reply here if I need any more help.

Id get Hawkhost to confirm the name servers, Some big hosting companies have more then one/two name servers. 🙂

Hawk Host only has two, which I listed above. I've been with them since May of 2009. 😉

I'm sure if you ask Hawk Host, they would be able to help with transfer.

Here you go. It doesn't cover DNS changes (these guys have that part done) but it'll give you a detailed explanation on how to do everything else.

Thanks a ton, I didn't know all that stuff, its very detailed. If I restore I just go to backup and click upload and select the last file I made. Last time I did that it didn't work to be honest so next time I might do it via phpmyadmin.

I'm sure if you ask Hawk Host, they would be able to help with transfer.

Of course I will contact them if needed!

Bingo!

You don't need to generate a full backup via cPanel just contact our support and provide us with the login credentials to your previous host - we'll do the rest. If the former is easier however that's quite fine 🙂.

A thanks a ton CodyRo. I do have one more question:

When registering for a hosting plan, you got to choose from:
1. I want Hawk Host to register a new domain for me.
2. I want to transfer my domain to Hawk Host
3. I will update my nameservers on an existing domain Or I will register a new domain.

I suppose I have to choose 3 ? because I got a domain already and its on Godaddy. Thanks to anyone who can confirm I need to pick 3 indeed.

Edit: Also do you have to register in order to request a hosting plan in "Web Hosting" tab ?

I'm no expert, but I'm guessing if you already have your own domain you would choose #3. Especially since you're switching over from another host. Someone correct me if I'm wrong?
