Whether it is to get some recognition on a forum, doing a post exchange, or even making some good content for your forum, quality content will get your foot into the door a bit easier. So I have decided to offer some tips for making good content.

First off, unless it's in a forum game, never post in or reply with one-liners. These provide no useful content and make you look unprofessional. You would be better off writing a paragraph. It won't kill you.

In some cases, bullet points are fine, but it never hurts to go that extra step when you are making a list.
For example, you could do this:
4 Strange Video Games from Japan You've Probably Never Played said:
#3: killer7:
Coming in third on this list is a peculiar game developed by Capcom, a development company well-known for gaming hits such as "Mega Man", "Resident Evil", "Street Fighter", and others. Unless you were too young or disconnected from the gaming world, Capcom struck a deal with Nintendo, where Capcom would develop and release five games exclusive to the Gamecube (The infamous "Capcom Five"). I'll let you research the rest of it on your own.

killer7, in essence, has plenty of weird stuff in it. But it's that weirdness that gave it cult status and got Goichi Suda's name recognized in the U.S. The gameplay is a mix of First Person Shooter, third-person exploration, and on-rails shooter. The gameplay itself polarized gamers and critics all around. Breaking the convention of using an analog stick to move by replacing it with the A button freaked out anyone who played it. Fortunately, once people got used to the control scheme, the game took off from there.
.....*other stuff*.....
I'm not going to write up the whole thing here, but the point is, give your bullet points more substance.
If you're going to post a topic about a television series/game/book/etc. that you like, don't run out there and post part oa Wikipedia article about it. Describe a paragraph about it in your own words

If you are a entertainment forum (video games, televisions, books, etc.), why not post reviews about a game/television series/anime/book you've finished? It'll gain you some reputation points and recognition.
Refrain from using acronyms like "LOL", "OMG", and "WTF", using popular slang (unless it's forum about a certain state or country), or referencing Internet memes. This makes you look unprofessional. In addition, keep your swearing and obscene language to a minimum (or none at all, depending on the forum.), unless you are directly quoting it from a film or something like that. Even then, keep it to a minimum.

If you are sharing a news article, give more of an opinion on it, besides a small one-liner. Also, don't post something if it doesn't interest you. Same goes for replies to such threads in general. Go beyond the small "I agree" or "I disagree" one-liner. Explain why you have that opinion! Do that when critiquing other member's works of art and the like.
An interesting idea is if you see some members talking about something you're unfamilar with, do some research. Get involved.

You know those "what are you listening to?", "what was the last game you played?" kind of threads? Describe the game you are playing or post a video of the music you are listening to! Share the enjoyment or spark interest in others.
If the community you are posting at isn't very active, don't just leave. Provide helpful feedback and participate.

Finally, always check your grammar! It'll go a long way.
I'm tired of typing any more, but I hope this is of use to all of you.
