I'm trying to get a feel for how people would word their searches for a few different keywords. What would you guys type into Google in the following circumstances:

You need a new roof on your house and you're looking for someone to do it.

You need a new driveway poured.

You were in a car accident and need your car fixed.

You want to find someone to help your website get ranked better in Google.

Your computer won't boot up.

I know how I would search, and have my suspicions as to how most people would, but I want to see what others think.

Thanks!

Good question Scott, glad you're doing some research and getting a feel for it before jumping right in! What I would search...

You need a new roof on your house and you're looking for someone to do it.
Search Keywords: New roof for house quote (City and State)

You need a new driveway poured.
Search Keywords: Driveway pour prices (City and State)

You were in a car accident and need your car fixed.
Search Keywords: Cheap auto repair (City and State), Car accident auto repair (City and State)

You want to find someone to help your website get ranked better in Google.
Search Keywords: SEO tips, Best SEO tips, How to rank website higher, SEO expert tips

Your computer won't boot up.
Search Keywords: Computer won't start, Computer won't boot up, PC won't boot up, PC won't start up

I hope this helps you with your research and gives you a better idea.

Best of luck to you!

I would search through different keywords including the problem, locality, and quality. Keywords are backbones of content and these help to get right information on the internet. I would also use long tail keywords to make searches and would get more prominent results. Long tail keywords are good for fetching information over the internet through search engines.

Long tail keywords makes meaning more clear than that of short keyword phrases.

Thanks for all the responses, those help a lot.

Jane: I understand all of that, I am looking for what people actually search for, not what I think they would search for.

Reverie: Would you actually search for "Car accident quotes"? It seems people would search for car repair, auto body, or something along those lines.

Again, thanks to everyone.

Finding the best keywords for Google

Now, the first part of keyword research revolves around figuring out whether or not you have a chance to rank on Google and, if you do, figuring out which formation of your key phrase is the best suited for success.

So with that in mind let’s have a look at one way that I do it.

Use Market Samurai to get a feel for your target keywords

Market Samurai is a great tool that you can use in order to get an inside look at what your competition is doing, or how competitive certain keywords are. It’s a really good place to start because you can just punch in a bunch of different keyword or key phrase ideas and get a feel for the climate.

One of the things I’ve done in the past is use Market Samurai to decide whether my blog post title is the best optimised and has any chance of success.

For example, you might type in “paleo diet” and then see who is ranking up the top and how many back links they have for that particular post. This is useful because sometimes you find that they don’t have that many links or that, with a bit of work, you might be able to replicate the ones that they do have.

I run a search engine optimization company. I know about SEO, keywords, etc. Just getting a feel for what people actually search rather than what I think they search.
