If you want to make success with your forum you should do the following🙁tested and gurenteed success)
-Install a AEF forum and enable SEO module.(the best SEO module i ever saw so far, better than vbseo, yeah better  )
-get at least 20 people ready to be posting(get then from your naberhood if you can,or anywhere else)
-Get some bloggroll links
-Bookmark a thread everyday, using popular social bookmarking websites(this will make crawling super fast)
Those are what you need to do as a start
Good luck
Eh, I can say this is about right, but at the same time, the forum choice is a matter of opinion. Search Engine Optimization is far more in depth then just a click of a button, just remember that.
The 20 people to have on stand by is the best choice to getting the forum bouncing, but skin choice, and forum layouts are a key ingredient into making a forum successful.
It's better to have less forums with alot of posts then a huge forums with a couple of posts in a few forums.
Yup don't spread yourself too thin at first! Use a few boards at first, it actually increases your postcount faster because your few members will be forced to choose between fewer boards and so they'll be more likely to wind up in each other's threads. Otherwise you may get people posting but no one bothers to reply because it's all too spread out.
Yeah forum software usually never decides whether a forum is going to be successful or not, however some people may take a look at the software, and how the template looks lol.
But yeah start off small and work your way up, otherwise as said it's going to spread yourself thin.

I was using vbseo with vbulletin forum once and i can say that it did everything by itself, all what you have to do is build links, and build links, and build links........ 😉
Well I would first off all say, just put your hard work and dedication over it, take time over forums, read the descriptions constantly incase grammar or spelling mistakes and the guidelines to the forum that you have created, they are very important, take time to think them through and watch out for grammar and spelling mistakes. The design has always attracted me too a good forum, so a nice bright theme, or a darker theme that will fit in with your forum category. Have staff that won't complain with every mistake a member makes as we all have mistakes in our life, make sure they don't abuse there powers if they do then it's the big toe for them. Be creative about forum names, and always try and create a board that hasn't been created yet. All I can give for right now.
