How's Your Google Ranking Doing?

All searches are now personalized (&pws=0 doesn't work anymore if I recall correctly).

Try searching my topics as an example and see if it's a match.

The Crystal Coconut:
I'm 4th for Donkey Kong Forum (neoseeker occupies 2 and 3)
5th for The Crystal Coconut
3rd for Donkey Kong Forums

These ones weren't too hard to rank up, because to be fair, not too many people actually have searched for these, so there isn't too much to brag about (according to my sources from Google Webmaster Tools).

Dashing:
End of first page for Dashing (I fiddle too much with the title tag)
1st for Dashing Forums
1st on Second Page for General Discussion Forum (usually ranges from 8th to 14th, very volatile).

First page (about 6th) for "Top Forums" for LinkTyphoon.com on Google.com 😀

It's best to search with a proxy as your own web browser affects the rankings you see.

Is number one for Advertising Mania

shows up #3 for me. Shows #1 for you cause you searched & clicked it a few times, which adjusted it according to your search criteria to #1.

And, no offense, but I don't know too many people who will actually type in "advertising mania" when googling for a promotion site ... UNLESS they already know your forum name, which also makes it kinda pointless.

If you want to get better traffic from google, you need to target keywords that are more likely to be used by random peopkle who have never heard of your site. Like, promotion forum, advertising site, etc ...

I know when I go to look for forum promotion sites, I usually type up keywords like Forum Promotion or Forum Advertising Forums or something along those lines. So even I don't get that specific.

My Google rank's totally tanked for my search topics XD I only found out when I googled it out of curiosity and was like, wow, we suck on google now 😛 Funny thing is I would've never known had I not looked. We seem to get more of our members through word of mouth now, that's why.

I know, some how I don't think I'd have a blog that includes SEO tips if I didn't know that.

Hello,

Is number one for Advertising Mania
Number three for True Promotion

Thanks.

The question is how many people key in either of those searches? most people would key in website promotion, or how to advertise a website, how to promote a forum, etc. If you are into SEO I would try for searches like those. But, what do I know about SEO 😛

So is your google search tailored to what sites you have viewed recently also?

I found out what our most popular search terms were by installing Statcounter on our forum. I monitored it for a few months to see what people were keying in to get here. Then I looked up those terms to find out just how popular they were. I used google's lab tools and stuff to do that.

We're still building links for our keywords - but we're #12 and #13 for our selected keywords - which isn't bad considering we were down for 6 months, and had a ton of broken links.
