Site Name: HubPages
Referral Link: http://hubpages.com/_cala/
Non-Referral Link: http://hubpages.com/
Description: HubPages is an easy-to-use web publishing service for writers.

Benefits of HubPages:

* it has a high PR (generally in the 6-8 range) and is a good tool for getting quality backlinks to your forums and other websites
* "hubs" (which are basically hypertext, multimedia articles) are indexed quickly by Google, often within hours of publishing
* it shares revenue from Adsense, Kontera, and the ebay and Amazon affiliate programs on a 60 you/40 HubPages split
* you can write about anything you want, as long as it meets HubPages standards (English-language only, no adult content, no illegal content such as warez, no hate speech, etc.) - people post everything from non-fiction articles and personal essays to product reviews to recipes to poetry and short fiction

Disadvantages of HubPages:

* you must be at least 18 to sign up
* you must have an Adsense account and/or Kontera, Amazon, and ebay accounts to actually make money
* they protect their PR vigorously and do not allow hubs that are deemed substandard or overly promotional (2+ links to the same domain within a single hub, not counting RSS feeds) - there is extensive information on the site about how to meet these standards

If you're interested, I'd appreciate if you'd sign up using my affiliate id, which will give me a 10% cut of your Adsense, etc. revenue (taken from HubPages' 40%, not your 60%). When you sign up, a HubPages affiliate ID will automatically be assigned to you, and you can also create your own custom ones.

Sign up here!

Please feel free to ask me any questions you want about getting started on HubPages - I've been a member for nearly 2 years and am pretty familiar with the site.

Thanks, dude.

I think you will enjoy the forums there, btw. Lots of smart politically minded folks hanging around. (Also some total morons, but c'est la vie, oui?)

Non, ce n'est pas la vie 😀

If you're having trouble deciding what to write about, HubPages holds a challenge every week called the HubMob. Every Monday, a theme for the week is assigned, and hubbers who want to participate write a hub related in some way to the theme. It's a great way to get out of writer's block and build up your collection of articles.

This week's theme is Hobbies.

The HubMob weekly topic this week is Crafts and Handiwork. If you'd like to get a quick start at HubPages, read and follow the instructions in that link to publish a hub for the HubMob.

If crafts and handiwork aren't your thing, HubMob participation is not required and you can still sign up and write a hub about whatever topic interests you. Here are just a few of the many topics written about on HubPages: HubPages Topics. I see a lot of gamers around this forum, for example. Here is the Computer and Video Games category.

HubPages is running a new 30 Hubs in 30 Days challenge starting tomorrow for any hubbers who wish to take part.

This is a great way for newbies to quickly learn the ropes and start building a collection of hubs large enough to start making money!

Read the rules and get started!

In connection with the challenge, some HubPages staff and experienced hubbers will be sharing a series of tips about writing quality hubs, earning more $ from HubPages, etc.

Watch this forum for new posts.
