I use vBulletin 3.7.3 PL1 ... just upgraded from 3.6.8 PL2 roughly ten days ago. For whatever reason ... maybe it was simply coincidence ... within a day or two after the upgrade, I was swamped with SPAMMERS. I wound up incrementally trying all the various security suggestions from vBulletin ... but the final tweek that seemed to eliminate the SPAM (or SPAMbots) was including the reCAPTCHA.
