Which of the following statements do you agree with more?

(a) Human lives are more valuable than animal lives,

or

(b) all life is precious.

All life is precious. We invariably judge human life to be more precious because we also consider most animals to be "lower lifeforms," but ultimately all life is precious.

I do not know much about the Bible that being said that's if @Katrina agrees with me or not that the term "all life is precious." in (chapter 139:14) 😉

And so it's right that all lives are precious

Mankind was created in God's image, so we are indeed very precious!

All life is precious, but we tend to overvalue humans due to us being verbal and above the intelligence level of animals, I think.

soon they will be if Zombies comes true

I think I misinterpreted the responses and came back to clarify. All life is precious, but God gives humans dominion over other living creatures. That's not to torture them, but it means that we can eat them for nourishment.

lol I said the same thing once on a forum run by a vegan. He didn't like that at all. He called me a pig and posted a gif.

All life. I'd hate to hear of a person with no empathy toward other animals.

We are supposed to care for other animals too. I do not support the situation where animals are abused in any way. I don't support that.

I believe all life is precious, but maybe I'll sound weird saying this. If there was a kitten that needed to be rescued and an infant, I would save the kitten. I just prefer the lives of animals over humans. 😛

I think I lean more toward (b) but with some complicated feelings about it.

Like, intellectually I believe all life has value and I hate the idea of unnecessary suffering for any living thing. I try to be thoughtful about it - I don't kill spiders, I feel guilty when I accidentally step on ants, and factory farming really bothers me even though I still eat meat sometimes (which makes me a hypocrite, I know).

But if I'm being completely honest about how I'd actually react in a crisis situation? I'd probably prioritize human lives. If there was a burning building with a person and a dog, I'm saving the person first. Maybe that's just social conditioning or maybe it's natural - I don't know.

I think the real world is messier than these philosophical statements though. Like, would I value the life of someone actively harming others over an innocent animal? That gets complicated fast. And there are definitely animals I'd prioritize over certain humans in specific situations, which probably says something about me.

I guess I try to live like all life is precious while acknowledging that I'm probably biased toward my own species when push comes to shove. Not sure if that's honest or just me trying to have it both ways lol.

All life is precious.

At work, in the event of an emergency, we're actually supposed to save ourselves first, then the animal(s). Of course, if someone is actively working with an animal, they can take that animal with them as they get to safety, or if they're safely able to retrieve an animal before getting to safety, I'm sure they would. But in a situation where it came down to saving theirself or saving an animal, they're supposed to save theirself first.

For me personally though? If I was in myself to save an animal and myself, I would definitely do both. If I wasn't able to do it safely though, I would probably defer to someone else who could if we could all get out safely or leave it to the professionals to get things situated and save the animals. Not because I don't care about the animals, but if I can't help myself, how am I supposed to help another living creature?

All that said, there's still humans out there I dislike (but would still save in an emergency situation if I could), and I eat meat. But I'm also a human with compassion for other humans and animals and wouldn't wish unnecessary suffering on anyone, human or animal.
