Do you believe in hunting animals for sport or fun?

Fox hunting has now been banned in the UK for a while and I know that animal hunting is big in the USA, what are your views on the subject?

I personally am against any forms of hunting animals, I'll come back and explain my reasons shortly.

It's not for me, but I have nothing against it. I know many hunters and the meat is eaten or donated to charity.

In my area the most popular animal to hunt are deer. They are horribly overpopulated and out there starving to death because of the lack of food to sustain the population, or getting nailed by cars.

Most hunters are also very ethical and take down their target quickly and with as little pain as possible, while your average store bought meat comes from animals in horrible living conditions and are not killed in a very humane manner.

All I can say is welcome to the top of the food chain. If we didn't mass produce animals for slaughter we would be getting our meat the same way our ancestors did, by hunting.

I do hunt deer for their meat. I dont use a gun i use a bow. Now hunting for fun i find wrong. They kill the poor animal and leave it to rotten. I belive killing the animal and eating it is the only way to honor it.

In my area there is hundreds of deer shot down every season. We are the only animals that control their population. The truth is it is NOT wrong unless you do not use the animal for food. I am against trapping for the reason that most if not all people that trap are doing it for fun and a few dollars that they don't need!

I would never kill an animal for fun. We do kill animals for food though but that's our "necessity"

We dont need meat to survive yes it gives us protein. We do have peanuts and redbeans wich are vary high in protein. Yes i understand people are allergic to peanuts but i have never heard anyone being allergic to beans. I love meat my specialty is cooking meat i find new ways to any meat.

I don't have anything against hunting for number control, which is what the fox hunts in England used to be. Hunting as a sport is in my opinion animal cruelty. It could be compared to bullying in the modern day society. It happens, we know it happens, yet we do nothing about it. We choose not to react, take action or make an attempt to prevent it. This is how it is with hunting in most cases, apart from the fox hunts in the UK. I spend a lot of time with horses, out in the woods and on the course and I don't see the reason to use horses for entertainment in that sense. The fox hunt ban is good, but hunting is needed for number control.

I agree. Hunting for any reason except survival is animal cruelty. I have no clue how killing innocent animals can be considered fun.

What???? Haven't you ever played whack-a-mole???

But to be serious I'm a bit indifferent on the matter. Personally don't hunt but I think others have the right. Find it a tad bit wrong with those that do it for sport and don't keep the meat though, but people may do as they wish.

I agree with Gimgak. Is this the second time, Gimgak? Maybe it's the Apocalypse afterall! 😛

I seriously agree with Gimgak though.

Haha well I think that on social issues we tend to have more agreeable views 😛. I view things like hunting as personal freedom. Something I personally have little interest in but see where the appeal is, and to be honest hunted animals have had better lives than those raised for the meat grinders.

I view hunting as a case in which freedom clashes with violation of rights. In this case, animal life is being virtually wasted.

So, I hunt. I guess you can call me a murderer. But, before I get some bad rep, I'm just going to say, unlike most who just hunt for antlers or a trophy, my grandad and I hunt as a way to spend time together. We also eat the meat, and use the hide for blankets/one of those things to hold arrows/and we keep the antlers as a souvenir.

We don't kill more then we need, and don't kill one every year.

We make use of our kill, rather then killing for pure sport.

Making the hide as a blanket might try that one year.

They're ohh so warm.

Ive been hunting and fishing with my uncles before. We always took everything we killed home and made it into meals.

My uncle's dog can go retrieve a duck no matter where it lands and no matter how far away. He'll run out, find it and bring it right back. He is a pretty smart dog. 🙂

But in the case of animals they have either A) The option to live freely in the wild and be hunted down after some time by a human or predator, or B) Live in closed pens that resemble concentration camps and wait for the slaughter without ever moving in their lives, many of them dieing from sickness.

Areal wolf hunting is a HUGE issue here in Alaska, and it is either always being banned or brought back. I cannot stand sport hunting, because MANY hunters just leave the damned meat behind, and only take the pelt, antlers, or whatever is the "valuable" or "trophy" part of whatever animal it is they are hunting.

Every time it comes up, I vote to ban Areal wolf hunting (and bear hunting in this same manner has been an issue recently) here in Alaska. It is bad enough to hunt simply for "number control." To do it in such an unfair way only adds salt to the frigging wound.

The truth is, hunting simply to reduce numbers is not effective in the long run. Take a biology class in college, and you will learn that this can actually increase the numbers in the long run. So that is an excuse, plain and simple.

I'm not against hunting in general--if you plan on eating what you kill, I have no problem with hunting. I personally would love to go out and kill a moose, because I love the taste of moose-meat. But hunting for pure sport disgusts me, and I don't think it should be done.

What sickens me the most is those fat cat hunters that pay to go out and kill for trophies, who in their right mind wants to go shoot a lion, elephant, gorilla or rhino just to boost up his ego?

What's wrong , do they suffer from little man syndrome or something?

I also hate the companies that organise these trips! You are callous, greedy and deserve to rot in hell!

I agree MissTake, these setup hunts are a disgrace to hunting. They put you in a stand and lure the animals to you, there is no challenge. Hunting should be about the natural element.

If you want to go hunt a lion, take your gun and walk out on foot through the wilderness. None of this have someone drive you up and shoot it from out of the jeep.
