I do not know what it is, I am just addicted! I get so tired of the windows lag. Linux is so powerful and you wont see those darn virus'. Now you do give up a good bit, but it still has things that make up for it. and they the operating system is so powerful. Have you ever used linux? What is your opinion?

For those of you who like a prettier computer, have you ever thought of Ubuntu?

Will Android is based on Linux and Ive heard Nintendo Wii Systems are.

I think it is alot more secure and powerful.

I use Linux at work and Windows at home, and i like both.

Linux is much stable than Windows, but windows is more easier to use. 🙂

Ubuntu is a really nice operating system. The only reason I never switched to it was because I'm just not willing to take the time to fully adjust to it for my daily browsing habits. I've been using Windows since I was a young kid, it seems native. I do enjoy terminal access though!

I tried ubuntu, But went back to windows, I want to use all my programs and wine is laggy. 🙁

Like the most of you, I have used Ubuntu in the past when Iw as dual booting Windows, however, Windows seem to fit me and what I need to do everyday on a computer.

Windows is "to home-like" for me to be able to switch permanently. I tried switching permanently, but I just went out and got Windows again. Lol. However, if they, Microsoft, keep making the worst OS line imaginable (Win8+), I will be switching to Mac or Linux. No question about it.

I have Ubuntu triple booting with Win 7 & 8 on this computer, but I can't say I use it much. I use it when developing the odd thing for Linux, or for doing something that is easier via it, but other than that I don't use it. I could not see myself using it for daily stuff anytime soon as it is just too slow on this computer.

Yea, it is true, kinda sad. You find yourself on windows simply because it convinent. It has everything you need. See, my laptop right now is 100% Ubuntu but I have 2 desktops both windows. I am also looking into getting a more powerful disktop so it isn't a huge issue. I also plan to get a MacBook Pro someime next year when I plan to continue schooling.

The fact of the matter is, it just runs so much smoother then windows. It also seems every time windows pumps my computer with updates it gets slower! At least on my laptop, now I know I don't have the best specs on my laptop but they arent horrible! I have 4gb ram, 500 gb harddrive, 1.8ghz processor speed and so on its about a mid-ranged priced laptop. But im on ubuntu now and its flawless. Im looking into a Desk top that i think will handle windows better. I have never had any good luck with a windows laptop.

I used to have Ubuntu 12.04 on my hard drive as a dual boot, but sadly, when I cleaned installed Windows 8 on another partition, Windows 8 overwritten GRUB Bootloader with Windows 8 Master File Table/MFT, and I couldn't figure out how to re-install GRUB, and I been to lazy to reinstall Ubuntu, so I just deleted the Ubuntu partition, and am using the space for storing regular files.

I like how fast the file manager in Ubuntu is, and how Ubuntu File Managers, Desktop, and programs rarely crashes, or use a lot of memory, so I can multi-task faster on a PC with only 1GB of RAM, and a Dual Core Intel 1.86Ghz CPU.

I can also use more free hard drive space for storing files because Ubuntu and its bundled programs like Libreoffice, Firefox, etc uses less hard drive space than Windows Vista-8.

Nintendo systems have never run Linux. There were rumors circulating prior to even the leak of the specs of the Wii U that it would run Android. These did not prove true.

Linux Mint, what can I say? Possibly the best os ever. Ubuntu - Or poobuntu as us Minters' call It is just, No. hate unity. :\

I started out with ubuntu, but never found it that friendly for me, so I moved on and have settled with mint.

I too have been using Windows since my elementary school days. In elementary school it would've been Windows 95 to I think 2000 I would've worked with, then when we got our first family computer, that was Windows XP in 2003, and later we upgraded to Vista, and now my laptop is a Windows 7. So basically, with a few exceptions, I've pretty much used Windows my whole life basically.

I decided to give Lubuntu which is Ubuntu with the LXDE Lightweight desktop environment a try on my older computer, and so far Lubuntu runs great even on a computer with just 1GB of RAM, and a dual core CPU.

Yes,
I also agree.Linux is most appreciable OS.The main feature is that it's free and provide you so many features.

I recently installed Puppy Linux on an old HP Pavilion DV2000 laptop with 4GB of RAM, and a AMD 64bit Turion 1.8GHz dual core CPU with onboard graphics, and Puppy Linux starts up in seconds, and runs faster than Windows Vista, and rarely slows down.

Firefox, Chromium, and other programs in Puppy seems to load, and run faster as well compared to Vista.

Wireless Wi-Fi, sound, video, and the touchpad all work after the Puppy Linux install.

@froggyboy; Could you post some screenshots of puppy linux please?. Wanna see it.
