I am Legend

Has anyone seen the alternate ending? WAY better then the theatrical version.

It was great for the first bit in the theater but then the "original" ending came and ruined it all. Luckily the DVD has the alternate ending which is sooo much better, especially since it remains true to the spirit of the book and the rest of the movie makes more sense now tonally.

I Am Legend was a good movie!
I watched the DVD of this film yesterday and liked it. It was very grim but obviously considering the story that's understandable. I thought the director did a good job of maintaining the main character's isolation and also in sustaining the sense of dread that permeated the movie throughout.

ive heard good reviews about this film

definatly going to rent in sometime

Tis a good movie and I own it. The best part about it is that there is no background music throughout most of the movie making it quiet and your wondering and getting ready for something to pop out at him at any time with your TV blaring lol. I know as it happened to me. I almost pissed my pants. -bigeyes-

One of my favorite movies of 2007.

I can't wait for #2 coming out in 2010!

Such a brilliant film to watch on Blu Ray.
The storyline, the acting... Everything was brilliant!
One of my all time favourites!
5/5

It was a little like 28 Days Later, but so many movies are now. 28 Days Later set a new standard for the pseudo-apocalyptic and 'zombie' genres.

I always hesitate to say things like "the book was better than the movie" because prose and film are two completely different mediums and what works in text won't always work on screen. But I think the movie was only vaguely similar to the novel - only taking a few key elements, and then changing them a bit.

In the novel, the "creatures" were very intelligent vampires who were creating a new society. In the movie, they were clones of the 28 Days Later infected that couldn't come out into the sunlight, and that was very disappointing to me.

I've only seen the theatrical ending, and I agree that it was dull and anti-climactic. The ending in the novel gave much more meaning to the title. The character in the book became a legend, whereas the character in the film just became a figure for the new history books being written.

So... I won't say "the book is better than the movie", only that they are two very different stories. For what they are, they are both good. The novel is an incredible work of art that goes deep into the psyche of man and morality. The movie is a fun action-filled adventure wonderfully shot with some laughs thrown in for good measure.

By the way, the place where I think the movie came closest to the book is the scene with him curled up in the bath tub while having to endure the screams and sounds of terror going on around him.

And one last thing - I highly suggest you read the book or download it on MP3, especially if you like this kind of movie and/or story. It has inspired so many writers and film makers we know and love. (Stephen King has said "without Richard Matheson [the author] I wouldn’t be around".)
