When I first heard this fact I didn't believe it but now I do this fact is:

Porn only takes up 2% of the internet, spam takes up 80% of the internet!

Holy mother of god 😡

Are Blog Scrapper sites consider spam since they are not spamming anyone, but themselves by automatically reposting other people's articles without permission, but try to post a lot of blog post a day to get traffic from search engines for as many keyword terms as possible?

I wonder what percentage of search results are from spam sites.

That would be an interesting statistic froggyboy 🙂

95% of statistics on the internet are made up on the spot.

I read that on the internet

I heard it was more like 97%

I wonder what percentage of statistics are from original research/polls from many actual users who voted or took a survey.

Anyways, I hear webmasters complain that many websites are just re-posts of other people's posts or just re-worded versions of other people websites. I believe it is called Article Spinning where you use the "Find and Replace" feature in Notepad to replace a certain word like "Female" with "Woman" to try and trick Google into thinking your post is original.

Plus, a lot of newer websites espiecally social networking sites like Tumblr, Facebook, Pinterest seems to encourage duplicate content by making a re-post, and like features, or make it easy for you to reposts other peoples content with Rich Text File Editors/HTML editors which also copy the pictures, links, and formatting of the post onto your post you copied and paste.

Guys 85% percent of the time someone tells you a statistic they are lying or picking a number randomly. That whole 95, 97% argument above about stats on the INTERNET being made up simply strengthens my point.

Stats in all are bullcrap because if you want to 'prove' something statistically or make a point with stats you can because you get to choose what group of people you are grabbing the stats from.

Backontopic though: Damn. HOWEVER, did you know about deep web? It's not even indexed...So you forgot to add: 2% illegal markets/trades/information

All else is valid.

This is the first time I have heard of these numbers - but I would believe this. Spamming is labeled as such when there is no sense at all and no information is provided in any way that can be useful. Porn on the other hand, that number shows that most people actually use the internet for serious matters.

That 80% will not show on search results anyway and that should be Google's problems, not ours. If they rank sites well then it should not be a problem.

Hmm but Porn sites take up more traffic than any other websites 😀

I thought video streaming sites like Netflix, Hulu, Crackle, CrunchyRolls, YouTube, etc uses the most bandwidth/traffic because they are more family friendly, and there are more different types of videos to watch for people of all ages and lifestyle/interests.

I think that makes sense, since there are lot's of people that just want to sell things and or mess with people.

wow, i thought porn would be around 50% and spam around 30-40%

this is epic
