My e-mail adress puurchoco[at]hotmail.com is been sending spam e-mails for some time now it seems, now I really noticed it when a friend of mine told me, he got alot of spam e-mails from me, and asked me to stop it. I didn't know what he was talking about, but really what is this ? I don't see how to fix it.

I didn't click link so I SUGGEST you don't either! So anyone know what is going on ?

This happened to me. I'm not sure how it works, but it sucks. I'd never spam anyone.

Do a malware (I think) search of your computer and see what comes up. I reckon you've got some bug in your system where someone is basically sending emails from your account. It's quite common, so a good search should do the trick (be sure to delete infected files etc.)

At least for me, Malware is not the case. My computer is squeaky clean. The emails also came from different IPs.

Yeah I am doing a virus scan now with ESET NOD32 antivirus. Are there any other programs that can come in handy fixing this problem ?

That could suggest work/school/public computers which are affected, and you've used your email on them. Do you recall using a computer other than your own for emailing?

master412160, like I said, I think it's malware, but I use Avast, which has helped in defending my laptop 🙂

Problem: It's been hacked.
Solution: Run a malware scanner and change your password.

As a last resort, you could send an E-Mail to Microsoft Support and have them check your E-Mail address to find out why it is sending out spam E-Mails.

*shudder*
Thank God I have a Mac.

Lol, Macs don't protect you from email scams. xD Even if they don't infect your computer with a virus, they can still get into your email addresses and affect those in your address book.

You shouldn't put your email in public posts like this because maybe not a member here but a bot could pick it up and cause more trouble. Also don't post a clickable link like that because people can miss-click and get the virus themselves.

It's a virus and all it does is spread by saying, hey check this out, you click it, you get it and then it moves onto the next person, had this email sent to me before as well, didn't click it though 😛

It has to be a malware. I got this problem before...... it my virus guardian spotted it and cleaned it.
