It's a massive shame you are using ForuMotion... Otherwise I would probably sign up. I think your site has massive potential... But not while using ForuMotion. Sorry.

Hey if you have a site that you could recommend other than forumotion that follows certain restrictions

1) Functions well such as phpBB or Invision
2) Has a points system that is not insanely difficult to incorporate (bonus if it has a shop system as well)
3) Is free

then I would LOVE to have the link, and I would be excited to move the forums while they are still small and will be easy to migrate!

Just Google "free phpBB Hosting" and you will get many results. ForuMotion is just not good enough.

I did a steady search today and had no luck. I am not familiar with actually loading a phpBB system into a server manually. I would gladly do that if I had the know how but found myself fairly lost in many cases as I have rarely if ever dealt with databases and with anything that has the complexity of a forum. That is why I used a system like forumotion that would allow the construction of the forum within the simpler context.

If you have any specific recommendations I would appreciate it, and would be willing to get to work on setting up the new forums ASAP, as in the moment I am capable of it! 🙂

I've just set up and am looking over this system, it doesn't seem that you can add modifications and I am unable to locate any points/forum cash system which seems trivial but plays a pretty effective role in the forums as they are running. Do you know anything about doing that in this system? Because otherwise it's top notch and if we could figure this out I'd begin the migration immediately!

EDIT: I have been reading in their support forums and it appears they have no points system, no intent to add one, and couldn't care less for or about the points system... which as I stated seems trivial, but plays a pretty big role in the forums.

Instead of using points, you could use post count for your forum. Why are points so important anyway...? Only promotion and advertising forums really need them. 🙂

Well we use the points for a variety of different things, one of which being that our resident artist will provide custom avatars and signatures, as well as commission work in exchange for forum points as a signature of activity. The exchangeable spendable currency has played a pretty enjoyable part in our forums development setup, and unfortunately taking posts away from members in exchange for something like that just isn't all that fair =P

I am proud to announce we are no longer using the forumotion.ca system! We are on a less restricted MyBB forum system.

What does this mean for you? Well it means a better forum and no extra work, we even set up a redirect link so all the old links are 100% functional!

If you're not a fan of redirects then check out the new forums using that direct link.

We are currently in the midst of moving all the graphics from the old forums into position on the new forums, and are even in the process of changing up the main skin (no changes will be made on users until everything is set up fully!). The best part? None of this will hinder your ability to chat with everyone on the forums =)
