I hit the back of a Honda Accord about 45 minutes ago. There were two cars in front of her and they stopped suddenly and then she stopped, I couldn't stop and ran into the back of her bumper. Luckily I was going ~30mph. I slammed on my back brakes and then my front brake and still wasn't enough and I was sliding and then my bike started going sideways and I clipped the side corner of her bumper. She got out and said she was sorry that it was really her fault and not mine and she knew I was going to hit her when she had to stop and that she has already had 3 bumpers replaced because of that same spot I hit her at. She said she wasn't too worried about it and that she would just mind her own business and go on. I gave her my information (Address, Phone Number, Who I have insurrance by, and everything) and she said she would just have it touched up. Well, for me, I bent my turn signal and scratched my front ferring.

Glad your alright man, cars verse motorcycles tend to end much uglier from my experience.

Yeah, we have no chance standing up to other motorists.

Yeah, not to be like ugly or anything but there was a fatal accident (bike vs truck) not even a mile from my house this weekend. The motorcycle crossed the center line, hit the semi head-on, and the bike exploded on contact killing the motorcycle rider and catching the semi on fire.

Again, not trying to be gruesome but I cringe when I hear that there was a motorcycle accident. Just glad all you have to worry about is getting some repairs on your toy 😛.

Glad to hear that you and the Honda Accord driver are okay, Chris.

So the lady got an estimate today and said it was going to cost over $400 to get it fixed. Plus, on top of it all she wants a new taillight because I "scratched" it. I have 10 pictures showing NO scratches at all on it. I will only upload one picture, but it shows nothing is wrong with the light and the small spot where I hit.

Refuse to pay it. When she said that she was sorry and that it was her fault she was implying guilt. While it was probably your fault for following too closely, she said that it was her fault.

EDITEDIT: I am not a lawyer, and all that fine print.

We are going to file it through insurance, and the insurance is possibly going to laugh at her for wanting a new tail light when nothing is wrong with it. She said she didn't want to call the cops out there and make a big scene since I was young and insurance would go up. But we are not going to pay the $416.50 and we are going to let the insurance send a person out there to look at it instead.

Well, I would of probably just left when she said it was alright. You did the right thing by giving her the info though because people will do that and then screw you over more by making it a hit and run thing.

It probably was your fault for following too closely. Its really easy to get called for following closely. Some crap fell out of my car and it hit the people behind him and caused damages. It was their fault because the cops said you're supposed to give yourself enough room to avoid things.

Sucks man, I know how you feel when it comes to hitting something. I've lost control and went through a gate once, and another time I hit something in a parking lot. Luckily no cops involved for the gate.

Good luck man.

Today my mom went to the insurance place and they said my insurance would double on my motorcycle (already about 650) and then I would get a ticket for it being my fault and it would be on me for 3 years. Also my mom said that we will pay the $416 to fix the bumper, but she must sign a piece of paper saying we accept no responsibility after this point and all things are final. She wasnt too happy when we said we were writing the check to the body shop and not her. Our insurance said she was committing fraud on us. She wants to keep the $416 and not get it repaired. So tomorrow, Im going to the body shop to see if it was actually the amount she said it was, going to get them to write me a piece of paper stating it too and that I have paid full to the body shop and not her. She wants a new tail light as well cause she said its "after marker" and it costs $75 for a new one. Do you see anywhere on that where I even touched the tail light? Nope...That's something that is making me very angry...I shouldn't even pay for any of it since she said don't worry about it.

Another thing, she called today when my parents were at the insurance place and she said that she wanted to speak to my parents about the wreck and then I told her they werent home. I called my mom and then gave her that ladys cell number. My mom called her and then the lady told her that she does not want her husband to get involved in this and that its going to be soooo much easier if he doesnt. Made her look suspicious. But, she said he is from Boston and has a temper. So my dad said, "I don't give a **** if he has a temper or not". lol. So this is all a big mess.

Your insurance-is that $650 a quarter or a year?

And wow, what a mess. I wouldn't be suprised if the estimate was inflated either.

That's a year for my insurance Gomen. If I were to run it through, it would jump to about $1100+ and have a ticket on me for 3 years.

Hey do not pay the lady... its her fault your bike got scratched ... tell here to pay you 😀

Down here, anyone that gets hit in the bumper no matter how it happen, it's the person's fault that hit the bumper.

anymore news?

its good to hear you are ok, i dont think you should have to pay 😛

Money was paid to her, made her sign a release of liability form which she didn't want to sign. She went straight to bank to cash the check and I can bet you 100% shes going to keep that money. But alls done and over with.
