Perhaps instead of starting your own host then, you should do something else. Starting a good host for free isn't really going to happen I'm afraid.

You don't need reseller hosting to start a forum. You can get free hosts. Most of the members here using free hosts use post2host sites.

http://sitefrost.com I only post 10 a month and have a few domains and stuff running in my account and still have lots of space.

No worries. It's easy to post there too. Only took me like 5-10 minutes this month. You can then leave until the next month or choose to become active. I just post when I need too. 😉

If you don't know how to do something basic like setup a forum, then I'd suggest just getting a free forum somewhere (note the link in my signature). Anyway, good luck.

I recommend ProPhpBB aswell. Really easy to use and the best choice for new admins. 😉

If you are new to forums I recommend that you use MyBB because it is easy and user-friendly.

- Buy a tower off tigerdirect (cheaper, you just build them. 1 terabyte harddrive comp for only $100!)
- Get Windows Server (any version will work)
- Set up DNS and .... I can't remember the name for it. DMIC something like that..
- Buy the certificate
- BOOM! Your own hosting.

Not if you buy a one terabyte tower from Tiger Direct 😛 You jsut need to buy all the hookups.

TD is where I built my PC from. I know how good of deals are, but if you buy the tower server already put together, then it's going to cost a pretty penny for a server that's worth having.
