I just finished upgrading and reformatting my entire site. I got a new domain and a much better forum application. I have set up several categories and about 13 topics so far. Please keep in mind this site has only been up for about 10 days. I have submitted to Google, Yahoo, Bing, and so on. I really need some help getting visitors to the site and getting those visitors to register and actively post. My target audience is pregnant teenagers, but I also need registered users who are older, adult women that were pregnant teenagers and teen parents themselves. The idea is for the more experienced, former teen moms to offer guidance and support to the pregnant teens visiting the forum.
Did you redirect your old domain to the new one? Are you involved with Facebook groups - that are liked, in your niche? Like, I see that the link is your signature is about "teen pregnancy" and being a support site - have you tried to talk about it, and mention it on Twitter?
Have you tried to do post exchanges - to get a few members? Have you told your friends?
The old domain was a free site, so rather than an actual redirect, I deleted all of the content and put in a short statement and a link to the new site. I did create a Facebook page, but I'm still learning how to best use sites like Facebook and Twitter. I have told just about everybody I can think of about it, and have also started contacting forum admins on sites that offer teen pregnancy sections, but are not devoted to teen pregnancy, in hopes they will refer the site. I am leery of link exchanges until I am able to establish the site with incoming outlinks. Everything I read says for SEO purposes I need more incoming links then outgoing ones. Maybe it is just a matter of increasing my content and giving it some time?
