I'm sure that since it's an animated image, it would be pretty easy to make them separate images.

Do you have Photoshop?

I use Photoshop to create the layers I want to use and then open up the animation window, to create the animation, I just turn on each layer I need for each new frame and turn of the ones I don't, set each frame to the appropriate speed, test the animation by pressing the play button then click the "save for web and devices" option.

So do I so you should be able to have a play around with what I said above.....there is a tutorial on Youtube I learnt it from I'll have to dig it out. 🙂
