I was writing a thread about Microsoft Windows and found a bunch of pictures of the past operating systems. I remember using XP and thinking 'this is great'. How far we've come, right?
I then noticed some previous versions of Windows (1.0, 2.0, etc).

Take a look at this...
Windows 1.0

2.0

That's crazy. Anyway, here's the source (it has all the images for the most popular Windows versions as well): http://geekynet.com/index.php?threads/b ... l-time.20/

**Note to Mods - Geekynet is my site but I think this thread on FP is a standalone thread. It's not to promote my site**

I still used XP up until 2011 XD

I did, too. It was the most reliable and most widely supported. I loved it.

I feel like Microsoft is going downhill but it could just be that hackers are getting smarter. I still think that the OS isn't that good tho even if it was totally secure

I loved win95, I thought it was so professional and cool-looking. 😀 And when I saw 98, I was like WOW this can't get any better. 😀

Windows 98 was a pretty good Operating System I used it up to 2007 until I switch to Windows Vista...

It's disapointing that MS got rid of the classic gray theme from Windows 98 in Windows 8 since the gray theme was very nice looking, and use very little screen space because the window's borders, and taskbar at the bottom are not as big as the Windows Vista-8 theme borders.

Froggy I bet u can reduce that either in settings or with a 3rd party mod

wow... that takes me back

Windows 95 and 98 were classic! still yet to use windows 8 though hahaha.

yep. Microsoft has made many changes to their interface. Since windows vista and windows 8 things got worse.

I like Windows Vista default desktop theme more than Windows 7 desktop theme.

I like Vista's taskbar rounded, smooth, clear see-through visual effect on the Taskbar with rounded borders with shadows surounding the startmenu button.

I am not a fan of Windows 7 Taskbar which is more flat and plain looking with a blurry glass effect, and no rounded borders around the startmenu. Plus, the rectangle to the right of the taskbar for Desktop Aero peak looked out of place, and sloppy.

Windows 8 classic desktop actually looks pretty nice since it is flat, clean, and consistent with its pastel chalk colors for the Taskbar, and Windows Explorer Windows. It's just missing a startmenu, and button which can easily be added by installing one of the many startmenu programs like Classic Shell, Startmenu8, or Start8.

Although, Windows gray classic desktop theme was best since I am used to it using it since Windows 95.

A long time ago this must've been. The first Windows operating system I used was Windows 95, and I thought it was brilliant when I used to play the few games it had preinstalled. Didn't have a clue how to use it at the time though.
