I would have sold if I were you. You don't know if the site will fail in the future or anything.

To be honest... it wasn't a formal offer at all. If it was they would have done it by PM.

That's your assumption. You don't get how these Big Board guys operate. In their mind, they are already making close to 5k USD per month off of their sites revenue. I recall from TAZ there was a big boards guy who was making somewhere well into the 10k area. These guys have money like that to spend on a site that looks promising and has a lot of members that they can use to make themselves more money. It's all about money.
 
frankly, I don't believe the offer. Sounds fishy to me.
 
He's not going to make a blatant offer like that without asking to look at traffic or revenue stats first.

Sure, but people here are baffled about 3 thousand dollars, but those guys, it's just a chunk of their monthly revenue. Some of them it might be 2/3 of it, some of them it could be a sixth of what they make. Those guys make a shitload off their advertising revenue.

Sure, it's a chunk of revenue, but it's also a down payment on a car, a good amount of hosting, etc.

That doesn't matter to them. What matters to them is that it's a site that populated so quickly and has an active member base. Like I keep saying, these guys have a lot of money to throw around on sites like that, which they think will make them more money in the future.
 
3000 is a bunch of money and could be used on great things. But, in any situation; money CAN NOT make you happy. No matter if you have the most money in the world. It can not make you happy. A poor man with his forum..with all his friends...can be happier than a man with bunches of money.

If he loves his forum, let him be! I say he is a great webmaster that has more respect for his community than he does for money for himself.

If it looks like a scam, swims like a scam, and quacks like a scam, then it probably is a scam.
 
You should have taken that offer. Your forum is no where near that amount. FP is around that much I would imagine but your board hasn't been around very long.
 
Your forum doesnt seem to be worth that amount of money. I wonder if they were going to actually pay you or if it was going to be some sort of scam.
