Ok, many of you knew the Old Communtiy. We had 10 k posts. I backed it up on my server to start a the community on a new domain, but thus the server was hacked and erased. We are on a better host now, but I am having issues getting my old members back and getting members posting. Help!

Well, unfortunately you're to have to start from scratch and I don't think we'd be able to help you.

That happened for my arcade once. I had over 1000 games on it and it was hacked!

Don't you have any backups of the posts? If not, then all I can do is to say good luck!

Webverts had to recently start again. It isn't that bad.

Once you start again your members have basically lost interest. Why would they re-join your forum if they don't know you won't get rid of it again (whatever the circumstance may be.) If I recall correctly, you tried to turn thecommunity into a social networking service, when failed you turned it back to the forum just empty though, that was your 'failure' point. You'd probably have better luck using a new domain and name.

Just my opinion :great:

If you know their email, email them. If you know them from another forum PM them. If you do not have anything to contact them then you have lost them. Try to make it look the same as before.

Shame is was hacked though...

If a forum gets hacked, members loose interest because they feel their information and time is at risk for another hacking, that's usually why they do not return.

If you need a good host, click on my signature. I will personally help you get back on your feet. Also, we allow backups unlike a lot of hosts.

@Chris: Stated I got a reliable host 🙂
@Shiny Star: Too many
@Nathan: Thanks mate :great: I think restarting completly and just a whole new concept may work great!

I recently restarted my forum to be on a better host (i.e my own) and I totally re did the whole thing and I have managed to get 23 members and quite a lot of posts.

Also, I reccomend you do backups locally, so on your computer or a memory stick.
