Some pretty good specs for a Google Android powered console. Hopefully, it would come with a Nvdia GTX 650-660, and an Intel Haswell i5-i7 CPU. I like the hybrid SSD hard drive.

That's going to be one fast machine (especially since Solid State Storage is incredibly quick compared to disc based hard drives)... It's specs look to be somewhat close to what we know of the xbox one. (So it'll be interesting to see how this competes with the xbox one when they're both out.)

What kind of pricetag is it going to have?

Are they going to start developing more graphic intensive games to make use of this more powerful hardware? And if so, won't this cause android games to have to be split into games for all android devices and games for the iConsole?

Also, I wonder if apple is pissed off that this device is going to be called iConsole.

Good specs, but the design and name are boring imo.

-- 01 Jun 2013, 00:54 --

Good specs, but the design and name are boring imo.

Yeah, may be fast, but that doesn't mean its not gonna have great competition with the Xbox One coming out also.

It's gonna be a challenge and to be honest, I don't think its gonna work. Considering now is the worst time to realities a new gaming console mainly because PS4 and Xbox one is in it with each other at he moment.

Also, me personally I've never been in favor of Android. It's never caught my attention. It would be different if it was Macintosh.

I dont think Itsa bad time to launch a new console, if it gave gamers what they wanted. Reusable Games, works offline, etc.

Well, the would have a better chance if they made online gaming free. They may take some customers from Xbox. Plus you have to think about what happen with the PSP. It wasn't a big hit. Usually portable gaming devices aren't that big of a hit in the gaming community. They even tried to make a PSP Vista. Still, not a big hit.

The iConsole is also a dual-boot Linux PC according to its website, so you can run Steam for Linux, Native Linux Games, Windows games with WineHQ compatibility layer or Play on Linux, and it comes with a Controller. This means it is also a Steambox console like device.

Steam has free onlive multiplayer, and its games are cheaper, and are multi-platform meaning you can play it on Windows, Linux, and Mac if there is also a version of the game for two or more operating system.

I think you can also attach a keyboard and mouse, and use it as a standard Linux computer for RTS, FPS, simcity and puzzle games which are better played with a mouse and keyboard because of the accuracy of the mouse and keyboard.

Google Android already has a large library of 3D and HD games like Dead Trigger, Shadow Gun, Riptide GP, Modern Combat, Nova, Asphalt 7, Sonic, and the tons of Emulators for Gameboy, PSX, SNES, N64, GC, etc, so there is no shortage of games for Android unlike Xbox One, PS4 which may have a shortage of games until more get release in the coming years after the consoles are released.

I think this console may attract niche/smaller category gamers who don't want a console, more powerful tablet like the 128GB iPad 4, fast smartphone like the iPhone 5, but want a powerful gaming computer which uses a controller for controlling the game like a console, but with the freedom of Linux, Android, and PC gaming where you can play your games on multiple devices like laptop, desktop, Tablet with a Desktop OS, and free online multiplayer.

iConsole may not sell as much as mainstream consoles, but iConsole is a smaller company which can probably survive by selling fewer consoles, and games since it has less paid staff, and smaller expenses than Sony, MS, and Nintendo.
