Ideal price for gaming desktop

Hello everyone, delayed my plans by almost a year but I've finally saved up enough to start building a new gaming desktop. Been wondering what others would say is the right amount to spend on something that'll play everything out now and in the next few years (with minor upgrades here or there) and won't be stuck on the lowest settings all the time.

Also looking for opinions from people in the US as that's where I'll be buying the parts and I know we can get our parts for almost 50% less than some other places, notably a lot of european countries.

I've seen some gaming desktops being sold for £1,200+, so it really depends on what you want added. But I can say that it won't be cheap anyway. You could probably build a decent one for £900+, a moderately good one for £600+ and an average one for £300+.

Well I read an article in a PC World Mag,about making a machine for gaming with I think 600 dollars. So any amount could be right it just depends on how powerful you want the machine.

Just for fun I put a bunch of parts together on Newegg for a gaming PC that would run most everything on high and, with a new monitor, it came out to about $1,500. Obviously if you're looking to run BF3 and Crysis on ultra-high then you'll have to shell out a bit more cash. 😛

That's probably as much as I'll spend, luckily EA is making BF3 origin only so screw that don't have to worry about maxing that game out 😛
