Ideas for promotion forums.

First thing to say - if you want to use any of these idea go ahead, no credit needed.

Second- some of these might have been thought of before so no hate 😀.

Third - i suck at making names so thats your job 😛.

Anyways...

Here are my ideas -

PM Promotion.(this idea came from one of yap's promotions)

Every x amount of days or weeks you mass pm all members about x forums. (with the pm giving brief detail of the forum aswell)

Navigation Promotion

Every x amount of weeks 4 people get there forum linked in the portal or main navigation. I think this would for sure get peoples hits and maybe members.

Registration Promotion.

Now I am not sure what forum software can do this,but I know phpbb3 and smf can for sure.

The idea is each new member will have your common registration page,but all in that page a small area with maybe 5 links saying check this site out.

Well those are my ideas 😀. Like I said before I suck with names.. so you make them up if you use my idea 😀.

Like Fowler said, PM Promotion = Big No No. It's as good as someone registering on your forum and sending mass PM advertising their forums.

How are you not sure which forum software can do this when you're saying you're sure phpBB & SMF can do this? :/

I wouldn't 'hate' maybe a monthly 'site-wrap-up', where it was just one monthly PM showing all the people who signed up to have their forums listed in the PM. Of course, this would be need to be sent from a staff member and only be one monthly PM.

However, you'd need to let people know about this first hand and maybe have a topic for 'opting-out' of it (or opting-in). If they opt out, then you could ignore them when bulk PMing, or if they opt-in, then they'll receive it.

But still, I'd probably steer clear of it, simply because people may see it as spam.

I hate the sound of PM service. Nine times out of ten, any spam PMs that come in my direction automatically get forwarded to the administrator. Plus, it's against the rules on many sites. I would not add that service at all.

How The Service Work: Members in YouTube Adverting Team make video that is at least 1 minute long about the members forum and upload to the promotion forum' YouTube account.

That sounds cool. I know of people who have advertised using YouTube and they've gotten quite a few members (if not guests) from it.

That'd be quite difficult to arrange, and train the Staff in. And you do, of course, require the proper software. But pretty nice idea Dragon. Very professional. And very unique idea.

I had 2 more unique ideas for a promotion forum in mine "Forum Idea" folder but I delete it after I learn how hard is too run a successful promotion forum.
