If I'm being honest, I was using Internet Explorer when I first joined FP. Internet Explorer 8, to be more specific. Had never even heard of FireFox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, etc. I remember getting roasted on here a little bit for admitting to using IE, and then I decided to install every web browser known to man on my crappy Windows Vista desktop. I eventually began religiously using Firefox for quite a long time, though I've used Chrome these last couple of years.

Anyway, where do you stand on the web browser war? Anyone still using IE out there? Or I guess it's Edge now? 😛

I've used Firefox as my main browser for nearly 20 years and more recently Brave on my iMac. I do have other browsers on a second PC for testing purposes but none that I would use everyday instead of Firefox.

I'm using Brave. It's a Chromium-based, privacy-focused browser.

I believe I got a really low end Compaq desktop for Christmas that was using it. I really didn't know any better. 😛

Windows Vista would have been a fine operating system if it had been released a year or two after it actually was. It was overly ambitious for the hardware that was available at the time of its release. Windows Vista SP2 is basically Windows 7 with a different theme.

I like the design, but coding...? It... its like intentional, intentional coding mishaps. It was a coding nightmare. Like, it was exploited so bad, that if you ...don't... have a specific download, your machine is done. I vaguely remember that in order to have Vista installed, YOU would need a specific type of graphics unit (GPU/CPU), and a specific download... or your specific Vista download is corrupted or easily corrupted. My uncle had a similar laptop setup, Vista laptop... and i saw everything. I'm trying to do news from there, but goddamn ads are putting malware into your computer. I remember the laptop getting warm - its like crypto in 2012.

That laptop ended up "dying," I'm sure my uncle was mad at me. My aunt was mad at me. I am sure. But the thing is Vista is... exploitable.

Vista was garbage.

I used to use Internet Explorer, but once Chrome was released, I never went back to it. Chrome has been my favorite browser, and I use it on all my devices—PC, laptop, and smartphone. I believe I'll continue being loyal to it till my last breath. 😛

I only ever used Internet Explorer to download Firefox, and then IE got promptly uninstalled. I used Firefox for years, but then a lot of the devices I had used Chrome as their browser of choice, and I like being able to pull up what I have on one device on another if I need to. I mostly do it from my phone or tablet to my computer of things I see online that I want to purchase (we don't need to talk about how many tabs I have open on my PC Chrome), but the connectivity is nice.

No mainline browsers here, too many security and privacy concerns. No FireFox, no Chrome, no Opera and definitely no Edge.

Vista was horrible, especially when it first came out. It was practically a nightmare to use.

It sure was! It got better in time, in fairness, but what a wreck! At least we got 7 after that, which was decent...and then 8...ahem.

lol yeah, Microsoft needs to quit trying to give people what they don't want.
