If you had a friend that you spoke to the same way you speak to yourself, how long do you think that person would be your friend?

If I was able to get through some of the issues, the person might just end up being a life long friend, instead of a short term friend.

I don't quite understand the premise but if you mean a friend who can be trusted with your secrets and personal information, I guess that can be called your best friend. I have several such friends during high school and through the years of separation, they have shown that they did not change much regarding our relationship. Unfortunately, most of them are now living abroad and only 1 is left here. However, we are all connected via Facebook although our chats are only occasional.
