Website Name: IGNO (Insanity Goes Nearly Overboard)
Website URL: Here
Forum Software: ZetaBoards
NexusTree: Here
Website Focus:
We're a small community focused on laid-back and general discussion, with a unique blend of 'random' humor.
Website Perks:
For people interested in a general discussion board but put off by many of the massive boards out there with hundreds of members where it's difficult to get to know people, IGNO might be the place for you. It's a small everybody-knows-everybody community with more intimate interaction where you can become more friendly with the individual members and staff, and the lax rules and regulations are a welcome change from larger forums. Numerous discussion forums, plenty of available skins, a chatbox and IRC channel, and custom-made forum avatars based around your 'IGNO Persona' (more info on that in the Additional Information section).

Additional Information:
We are a long-time community that has been around in some way or another since 2003 (original community migrated from a LUSENET forum to Invision, and now to ZetaBoards). Due to attacks and attempted hacking by an ex-member, the board was put on total lockdown in 2007, with the URL being forbidden from advertising and taken out of popular search engines such as Google. We have been a closed circle ever since, with the URL only revealed to trusted friends of members and staff, so the flow of new membership has slowed - and as we now lose former core members to busy lives, it is becoming hard to increase activity with the closed circle formula, and I have chosen to begin going public with the URL again to try and remedy this.
The closed style of the board over these past years has shaped the way the community functions, so this will be a difficult adjustment for members and staff and I ask your patience in this regard - IE, the forum still requires registration to read forum topics, however a special forum has been set up so validating members may interact with the community while deciding whether or not IGNO is right for them. We are friendly and welcoming to new members, but still small and with slow activity recently, so if your introduction is not met with a flood of responses, please don't take offense!! We're working on making the community more appealing to newcomers. You're encouraged to voice your opinion as to what you'd like to see added or changed!!
Our sense of humor on IGNO may be off-putting to some. While racial remarks or attacks on religion or sexual orientation are expressly forbidden by the board rules, black comedy and off-color humor is quite common, so if you take offense to sexual jokes or other forms of comedy that may not be suitable for minors, IGNO is probably not the place for you. We won't change our style to accomidate newcomers; rather, we seek new members who can appreciate and blend in with our existing style. Please be forewarned that if you are offended in such a way, you're welcome to leave at any time. If you're unsure, then as a ballpark, it is advised that you be 14 years or older to join IGNO.
We're not a roleplaying community, but IGNO itself in a sense can be viewed as a sort of massive roleplay, since members fill out custom profile sheets to suit their IGNO persona. Let's face it, when we're on the internet, we're usually taking liberties and acting in ways we wouldn't necessarily behave in real life...so why not arm yourself with magical powers or heavy artillery, or be the ruler of a far-off land? 'IGNOLand' is the fictional world/land/universe/whatever where most of our antics are based, and you are free to be whatever race, class, element and alignment you choose - though, uh, you should probably stick to your real gender to avoid confusion. Active members are given a sprite portrait and animation to suit this IGNO persona, and will be included in an upcoming fighting game I'm developing.
Finally, please be sure to use proper spelling and grammar in our community. We're not fond of n00bspeak/netspeak common to chatrooms or MMO's, and appreciate complete sentences, punctuation, and other basic English-language skills. If English is not your first language and you're unsure of yourself, we might be willing to let it slide, provided you give it your best. By no means is bad spelling and grammar a bannable offense, but I will yell at you. A lot. Especially if you can't tell the difference between 'your' and 'you're'. So please be prepared to speak coherently - we don't expect you to type as though you're writing a college essay, but come on, talking like 'so lol wut r u guys doin 2nite lol' or using excessive emoticons just makes you look stupid, and is highly frowned upon.
If you have any questions or comments about the board, please post them in this thread, or feel free to use IGNO's chatbox (does not require registration unlike the built-in ZetaBoards shoutbox). We also have an IRC channel on Rizon at #igno (if you don't have an IRC client, click here), which I try to be logged into as often as I'm online, if you seek additional assistance.
Thank you for taking the time to read my ramblings, and please check out the community for yourselves!!
