Has anyone even built an arcade from scratch? I've purchased a computer, the Operating System, Monitor, & Speakers. However, I'm having trouble with finding a 6 ft / full height cabinet for the arcade. I'd make it myself, but I'm not sure how to print out the diagram to place over the wood I'd buy if I did such a thing.

If anyone is interested I'll post some pictures of the whole process of building it. I'm currently waiting on all of the supplies to get here as I just bought them today.

I'm honestly just really excited about making it, as I think it's going to be amazing once it's finished and kind of just wanted to bring it up somewhere 😀

What arcade type are you doing? I have seen various projects that show different models. Are you looking for a stand up pac-man based cabinet?

Yeah, I'm either going to be buying a full 6"2 cabinet from MameRoom and getting the quad controller addon for it. Or I'm simply going to build a 6 foot cabinet using dimensions I've found online. I'm thinking it'll be easier to buy the pre-built high quality versus doing it myself as it will only be $200 more than making it myself and I'll have the luxury of not screwing it up by completely making it from scratch.

This is the cabinet I'm looking at getting.

That's the model I've seen before. Heres what I looked at before: https://www.instructables.com/id/Classic-Arcade-Cabinet/
Not sure how much it will help you.

I've never done this, nor have I ever heard of anyone else doing this. It sounds really cool though! I look forward to seeing you update us with your progress. 🙂

I purchased my computer, monitor, etc. last week. I bought my joy sticks 2 days ago and guess what showed up first :joycat:test.webp

NOTE!!!!!!!! The cardboard is simply so I can see how the buttons are suppose to be laid out, and to get them working properly before putting them into the cabinet (Which won't be here for probably another month) Another thing, the button colors are weird because at first I couldn't get half the buttons working. The only ones that worked off the bat were blue and red.

Here's Maximus Arcade in action. I'm now currently in the process of adding games and everything to the whole system.

Is that how you're going to be gaming, or will your current console still be your go to? Adding Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat? I feel those are musts.

I tend to play PC, Switch, and probably now this. I haven't touched my xbox or ps in a while :O So this arcade will be tied with the switch more than likely. Especially because I'll have some old school pokemon games on it.

Building an arcade is awesome and also, oddly enough, you can buy a minature one at Wal-Mart now. It's around $300 dollars and it's tall enough for an adult - but certainly not the refrigerator size of the classic ones.

Yeah, I want the full size one with all the classics and then some. I already have the N64 games working flawlessly. I'm now working on all the mames, and other games. After that it's waiting on the actual cabinet to get here to call it a job well done.

Not to double post, but I just got a brand new system for the arcade. And just successfully got almost 3.3k games added to it. The new system is 1908231091287x better imo.

I wanted to build a submarine as a kid. I guess anything is possible!

I am a little jealous. I've always wanted to go and play arcade games, but never really had the option.

It's pretty simple to do. If you're looking at buying a cabinet / shell. Everything included you can make an arcade for around $1,000 I bought a $50 referbed computer off of new egg. It runs everything decently well. The most expensive stuff is the arcade cabinet itself. However, making it is only a few hundred cheaper.
