I'm writing a book for forum owners that will help them every step of the way. From thinking of becoming a forum owner to being a forum owner, manager and/ or moderator I have you covered! The book will include the different purposes of forums and the pros and cons of each. It will also include questions to ask yourself before seriously considering creating a forum/website that way you will know whether or not you truly want to become a forum owner and if you are ready to become a forum owner. This book will also help you create goals for your forum and give you the motivation and guidance you need to create a successful forum.

I remember when I first started out as a forum owner there wasn't any guides or books on how to create or run a successful forum because everyone wanted to keep their secrets to themselves so they would have an advantage on their competition. So I decided to create my own book and guide so you can get the guidance, the motivation and the advice you need to me succeed as a forum owner, manager and staff.

I'm still writing parts of the book and would love to hear your questions and anything in particular you'd like to know about being a forum owner.

I look forward to reading your replies!

Always start small, like don't make a board long and complicated would be an important one to have at the top of the page

Also why not you go on every board that you can think off or visit sites that are listed here and see how they have and do?

SEO and Members activity is a must and when starting any forum make sure there is post on thread on there as you don't members joining an empty forum with nothing there already.

I agree 100%. It always looks so empty and overwhelming when you visit a new forum/website and there is way too many categories or sections.

I've been doing just that, though I would still like to have the input of the members and those who visit forums actively.

Agreed! It always shy's me away when I see a new forum and there aren't any posts in a section or there is only one person creating everything. It's important to remember that you want to have content for your members to reply but you also don't want to "flood" your forum either.

Congratulations, that's an awesome idea! I haven't come across any books like that and it sure would have been helpful back in the day. Shoot, I'm sure it would still be helpful now! I agree with everything others have said.

I know that I typically start to pass over a forum if it requires me to register in order to see content (unless there's a good reason for doing so). I won't spend much time on a site that requires that.

Advertising advice is always helpful too! Find as many sites like this as possible in order to get the word out.

Thank you for the suggestions! I will be sure to include advertising advice and pros/cons of forums that require to register.
