Let's say I were to eat exactly 2 pounds of food, would your body weight, if precisely measured immediately before and after the consumption, show a difference of exactly 2 pounds?

My thought is as soon as food hits the mouth its breakdown begins and these processes must involve energy transfer of some kind but I'm having trouble linking this to the actual weight issue. Any thoughts?

Good question. I think that what you consume would make you slightly less heavy than what you consumed. Thinking about the time it is taking you to eat it could also be a factor.

If you held two pounds of food without consuming it then you would be two pounds heavier.

If you ate two pounds of food in 3 huge bites LOL in a matter of seconds, you would probably be the two pounds heavier.

But, if it took you 1 hour to eat the two pounds of food then I think the food would have started burning off so you wouldn't be the two full pounds heavier.

Ummm... I guess. hehe

*I think* you'd probably be two pounds heavier until you go to the toilet. After that, if you're heavier than you were before you ate, it's probably due to excess energy and fat that you didn't end up burning off while it was digesting.

But I'm not a dietitian so I could be way wrong. xD

This was a good question. I am surprised more people didn't put their two cents in....or is that 2 lbs. LOL
