Does that make you a Hobo Princess? No one says you have to be rich to be royalty.

I thought you were a girl until last week when I checked out something you shared, but only because the name - obviously my view of you hasn't changed.
Raaaah that’s savage

We want members that have left to come back now.. gotta see that

The powers that be have been trying to bring those members back for years. They either refuse to come back altogether or come back for twenty-eight minutes and leave again. I think attracting new members is going to have to be the focus rather than bringing back the retreads.

I’m still in touch with some of the old gang. They have no real long term desires to come back.

Mmmm, well they can always try! I came back randomly after I ran into a current FP administrator on another forum I frequented. We talked and I was able to supply enough information to recover my account (I had lost the attached email). Weird how things work like that...

Yeah, I have also heard this feedback from some, but mostly because life is busy and complicated - not really because of a specific event or feeling about the community, but I'm sure there are some.

Yeah, it's true that many of them don't have any grudges against FP or anything like that. It's more that many of them have moved on from forums in general.

I think you could only harbour a grudge if you were banned. And many of the oldies are either ex staff with some members. As hobo said, whilst it would be nice to reminisce with past members, living in the past won’t help this forum push forward. I think other big forums out there are held back because of the older members being like a local pub, always weary of newer users even though that’s what pushes it into the future.

A lot of people like to blame social media for the fact that forums aren't as popular as they once were, and that may be true in part, but another reason is that people do not take the time to welcome new people into the forum world and help them figure out how things work. Forums actually have a bit of a learning curve, and in the era of social media that all pretty much works the same, people may avoid forums because they think they are too hard to use. Taking the time to show people how they work can help.
