I'm so doomed!

Yesterday, I got my bike back from Halfords after getting a new brake system, whole new tube for the wheels, and got the chain guard off. The bike is a BMX, a green Big Daddy Rooster and well today me and my two friends were just cycling around the scheme. Then there was a straight new path ahead and towards me were to gates, so I zoomed off away from my friends and done a skid, next thing you know back tyre goes POP! If I tell my mum she will kill me, and I can only take it down to Halfords by car and basically I am dead. I have tried, scraping my news and putting oil over my legs to make it out as if I fell but my mums not tricked easily, what shall I do?

I am quite effortless with things as my laptop got sent in a week ago to get fixed, then my bike and then again. Yes, I do try to keep things in good condition but it is just my luck.
 
Tell her the truth, it was your fault and scamming her isn't going to help anyone. If you break things, you should hold responsibility for it.

She won't kill you 😛
 
It isn't scamming her as I pay for it. Well I hardly pay for it because I have bike card and most things come free or half price.

It shouldn't be too much of a problem.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost to get it fixed the first time?
 
It's not too expensive, go ahead 😛 You could always get the train, if there's a station near you and Halfords. If not, a car journey shouldn't put them out too much
 
Fix it? If it's just a puncture that buy a puncture repair kit and do it yourself. It only costs a couple quid? I bmx and I get punctures allll the time 😛

Its sounds like the tyres you have are pretty bad. Oddessy path tyres basically don't give you punctures, even when your on glass etc. but there 20 each: http://www.evanscycles.com/products/ody ... 0-ec007837

Okay, Johnathan I don't want to explain my town but we live near the junctions to Glasgow - country. Halfords is in the town and the train station is the other side of the town, so walking there is quicker than train but I don't want to carry my bike.

@Midnight, those are the ones I have or like it. It was my second skid and it has went right in to the tube, plus puncture repair kits are usually sold out around here.

You'll just make it worse lying, tell the truth and be honest with her. Mistakes happen and you can't help it if it was an accident.

Tell her the truth, go to her and say "Mum, I had a bit of an incident with the new tyres on my bike and I got a puncture already, I'm really sorry about it and I do realise how much time and money it takes to get it fixed, I'm such a clutz! but I promise I'll pay for the repair and I'll wash/load the dishes every day for a week as proof that I am really sorry and being mature about it"

Hopefully you can be sincere enough to pull it off and she'll respect you for being honest and responsible 😉

Believe me MissTake I have been there. No tricks work on my mum as she use to do half the stuff me and my friends do.
 
All parents went through the same thing. It's a matter of how you say it, and if you mean it or not.
 
Maybe it's just me but it sounds like the bike shop did a shit job installing the inner tube, or overinflated it. Either that or the brakes aren't installed properly and are putting excessive pressure on the tires, causing them to pop. (Especially during the summer) I ride my bike a lot, probably over 300 miles per summer and I abuse my bike. That said, the worst repair I've had was to get new brakes and a tune-up. I've never had a tire blow out on me.

If the tire that blew out was the one that just got installed, it's obvious it was installed wrong or overinflated. If that is the case explain that to your mother, and explain that it wasn't your fault. Most bike shops (here in the USA) have some sort of warrenty on parts and labor. If it wasn't the tire that was just replaced, it could be your fault for being rough, or there could be a problem with the bike. Bring it to a shop and see if there's a problem with the bike. If there's nothing wrong with the bike, you're going too hard on the bike.

Looking at the posts again it looks like you skidded, shreading the rubber on the tire all the way down to the inner tube. If that is the case, you're going too hard on your bike. You aren't some BMX dude with $50M endorsements and free bikes for life.

She seems to be a bit more understanding than my mother.
