When people post in communities, I have seen a lot of them using small images or similies like 😀 or <3 in topic titles so that, when posted, they become <3 instead of < 3. It looks awesome to have such things, but would this affect any technical aspects of running a forum? Aspects like SEO, bot crawling etc?

It's really cool to have them and rather have that, so it makes members more happy and feel more at home 🙂 also it shouldn't affect SEO otherwise we would not had that option 😛

We don't allow it, as it makes the content look immature, but I suppose that's dependent on the subject of the forum.

I like the idea, because it gives more freedom to the users on the forum. It depends on what type of forum it is because it'd look cool for a gaming forum, but not for a promotion forum or something.

It also does not affect anything, simply create the freedom and more user friendly

I disagree. It doesn't make the content look "immature". It's a community, let members express themselves. I personally see nothing wrong with it, and I think smilies in a title could be beneficial to a forum. It's different.

I actually tend to agree with ghe sote looking immature arguement but that doesnot make any solid ground to actually stop people from doing it.

I think people are way too uptight about SEO. I mean, who cares? Obviously, other ranking factors are massively more important.
