Hello everyone.

We have recently made some changes on our backend that may impact your experience here at Forum Promotion. Today, we have moved away from Sendgrid to a new provider called Mailgun. Mailgun will now relay our email from our site directly to your inbox. With this change, we may experience some issues with sending out emails for a short period. Some problems that may arise are not delivering to your primary inbox, temporary email outages, potential changes to activity emails (I'll go into more detail) and why we did this.

First, as we are using a new mail provider, we are also using a new sending IP, which may result in some of our email being blocked or delivered to your junk folder. We understand that this might be a bit frustrating. However, we'll do our best to address these issues. If you notice our emails going to your junk folder, we kindly ask that you move them to your primary inbox. It will indicate to the mailbox provider that you are expecting those emails.

Second, when we were with Sendgrid, they sent our email using a dedicated IP. Whenever our IP was blocklisted, we were able to delist it in a timely manner by ourselves. However, we no longer have the luxury, as we now use a shared IP at Mailgun. This means we will be sending emails on the same IP as other websites, which could impact us if one of their emails triggers the IP to be blocklisted.

Thirdly, although this isn't set in stone just yet, we may change how often and when we send emails to ensure we don't exceed our sending limits. For example, instead of sending watched thread content emails if the member has been in the past 6 months to 1 month. However, we are still looking into this and will let you know once we decide.

Lastly, why did we do this? The biggest reason was the cost. The plan that we were using was getting way too expensive. Our plan included 100K monthly emails, a dedicated IP and subuser management. However, we generally only send about 400 emails between Forum Promotion and Code Forum combined monthly, which is not very high for the plan we had. The main purpose of going with this plan in the first place was the dedicated IP and sub-user management (there was no way to add a dedicated IP without this plan).

Here are some quick details for you to take note of. As of today, we will be sending from [email protected], so please add that email to your contacts. You may still contact us at [email protected] (our incoming email was not impacted as it uses another service).
