Why do people always have to run out and buy the new model of something they already have?

An obvious example is, of course "Call of Duty", considering that every year it's like "last year's game", except with only a few minor tweaks to the gameplay and a new story, but yet it feels the same as last year's game.(Hopefully, Black Ops 2 will be different).

Or even those new models of the iPhone and shizz.
"OH MY GOD, IT'S GOT A BIGGER SCREEN! I THINK I NEED TO WASTE MY MONEY ON SOMETHING I ALREADY HAVE, JUST WITH A BIGGER SCREEN".

Seriously, why would you waste money on something like that?

I've had my Toshiba computer for almost 5 years and I haven't considered buying a new computer, unless this one dies one day.

Sure, it's slow, but hey.. it still works and if I want to delve further into PC gaming, I can just get my PC's graphic cards and stuff updated, rather than waste money on a new computer.

People like new stuff so people get new stuff. There's no point in hoarding money as it itself is useless compared to the things that it can be traded for, seems as though that's how a lot of people behave.

I think many people buy things they don't really need because they are bored, or the advertisement they saw online, TV, etc convince them that the new item like an iPad will drastically improve their lives and productivity which it can if they use the right apps on the iPad, or they can just end of spending hours on YouTube, Angry Birds, etc on their iPad.

Yep, people drive me crazy when they do this. I like to save my money instead. 😉

I think you need to look up the definition of an "impulse buy."

I know what a impulse buy is, but this still-existant trend is obviously the "insatiability of human wants" principle.

Impulse buys are snickers candy bars while you're at 7/11 buying eyedrops not buying new iphone models every year.

Yeah, that. But the rush to buy the newest latest and greatest is annoying IMO.
