Lately, my site's activity has been dropping MASSIVELY. I can't do any post exchanges due to my time cut short, and more worse my personal laptop had a hard drive crash (after sending it to dell)
Ive cancelled alot of post exchanges and even forget to do one, which I will plan to do after my laptop is fixed.
Ive massed emailed every member, and I can't really post alot of posts. Not alot of people responded to my recent post requests. And the only time I get to use the internet is at the library and my dads laptop. And I only get 30 minutes a day
Gaming forums arent really my thing. Ive never been an active member of one.
From my understanding, there is millions of them. Perhaps you could do something that makes your forum stand above the crowd?
Anyway here is two good tips to possibly generate some activity:
1) Keep posting new and interesting topics, dont wait around for the members to create them as that may not happen.
2) When replying to threads, post something that is "reply-provoking." Such as asking the member a question about something they said in their post.
To my knowledge this forum was never alive. I mean, you haven't even reached 1k posts, and it's already dead? ''Reviving'' a forum in the early stages is practically impossible. This is why you should focus on making your launch as smooth as possible.
This forum was origionally Dynazio. I have revived this forum multiple times. Yeah, i can't get 1000 posts, and the launch went smooth, but immediately after that, things began to go south. After I abandon it (due to family issues) everything died. I decided to revive it but it wouldn't work since my style is out of date and messed up. It doesn't support IE, Firefox, and Safari. So once again, closed for 2-3 weeks to create a new style and rename the forum, and reorder things up.
And yeah, I know its dead but I don't like it to be dead. I don't have alot of options right now. It even has a custom phpBB style and still? Nothing. Yeah the posts went up from 451 to 798, and thats what I like but I can't somehow maintain the amount of posts flowing.
I've heard of business forums having such a team that helps you with advertising your board. Everyone calls it something different. I think it's like the Public Relations team or whatever its called.
It died because you abandoned it, whether or not you had a legit reason to, whether you had to or chose to, you left the forum and that's why it's failing. The good news is you can always turn it around. Just get back in there and lavish time on promotion. It takes a lot of work! Especially since you got a gaming forum. The problem with this is, there are already so many big successful gaming forums out there, that establishing a new one is hard. What reason do people have to join yours and not the big busy ones. It has SOME activity so what you might want to do is work on getting your site more visible in google, while making some nice fresh topics to keep your current members entertained. People often join the first forum they find if they do a google search. Not always, but often enough it should get you a few members.
Signature advertising!
Get a new theme, your current one doesn't seem game like.
Tell your close friends! They should be able to help!
Post topics!
Good luck. 🙂
Write articles about your forum and submit to social bookmarking sites. Also create accounts at Twitter and Facebook. Follow users and befried those who are into gaming. Those are great methods.
Sadly, I don't have time to create a new theme and create articles. The only time I get to go on the internet is when i'm at the library and when I get a hold of my dads laptop. I'm basically screwed 🙁
the best and busy forums in my opinion are the ones where the admin is dedicated to the forum. People want to see that the admin/owner is dedicated to their forum and if they are not..why should they sign up?
Problem with gaming forums are that their are tons of them on internet. I think when running a forum like yours or any other forum where there is lots of competition you have to offer something that the other forums don't. Not sure what to tell but one thing I noticed is that you might want to make your forum look like a gaming community. Perhaps add a template that resembles one.
Also you have forums on your forum that have nothing to do with gaming. Get rid of them. That only adds more for you to post which is not good at the start for a struggling forum. Besides that keep posting and advertising and Im sure your forum will awaken with activity. Patience is a virtue.
