Have you ever encountered people on your forum who joined up with incriminating usernames. Say if someone wanted to do something bad like posting porn or spam on your forum, they join up with a user name with something like pornography or spam in their usernames... do you ban them on the spot? I do, because their usernames almost make it sound obvious what they are on the forum to do, and it's best to prevent that. So when it becomes that obvious, you should ban them before anything worse comes up in my opinion.

I don't until they actually do. Some people use that kind of username but are there for real reasons. Assuming things is never a good thing 😉

Never. I would never ban someone just for a bad name. That's ridiculous. A lot of people have these names. I had a guy on my old site called "Porn_Star03" or something. If it's like a forum with a bunch of uptight rules and naming restrictions then you can PM the member and ask him to change his name.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to make a rule about this, I think. Because with the current situation at hand, I'm probably getting a tad paranoid. I should make a rule about using names like "Porn" or "Spam" in their usernames or something. That's a good idea.

Sure, I believe there is a name filter in most ACPs.

Yeah, but is there a way you can make a rule that people can't have usernames with the words Porn or Spam in them, nor they can have usernames related to Pornography and Spam?

You can make any rule you want in your rules section.

But what I mean is I think there is some sort of naming filter you can set where you can type like, for example "porn*" with an asterisk indicating anything with the word 'porn' in it is unregisterable.

Are you talking kind of like what they have for swear words that you want scratched out?? I think I know what you mean. This is in the ACP correct?
