In the US, businesses are desperate to hire people cause government checks compete. Anyway, nothing wrong with working at a restaurant or grocery store but wage is too low. Nonetheless, if only prices would come down on things.

The problem with raising wages too high too quickly is that then the businesses have to raise the costs of their items or services. Then it's like the raises didn't matter anyway. The US has failed its people by not raising minimum wage consistently for the past 12 years.

Agreed. I don't see the point in it. You're basically no better off than you already were.

Well, right now the figures coming out are showing that we're worse off by far this year compared to previous years. The 3% cost of living raises can't make up for the 8% inflation rate.

We have a big problem in the UK that has people on low incomes having to choosing between eating and heating and it's going to get much worse. Inflation is soaring and our government has wasted billions in the name of Covid on dubious schemes which have done little or nothing to help curb the spread of the virus.

I can't help feeling the next few years are going to be pretty grim for a lot of people.

Sadly I agree, our governments have done nothing to support their people however the ones in power really don't care as they don't have to choose what bill to pay or if they eat today.

Sad world we now live in.🙁

If people aren't working, apparently inflation isn't bothering them that much. Sorry, somebody had to say it. 😛 Well, it's true!

I have a feeling this is the beginning of the problem.

For the lazy and irresponsible, you're spot on. They're someone else's problem. I can't do that. My honor and moral integrity will not allow it. I've been unemployed before and it was very stressful for myself and former marriage back when I was having some major issues in late 2009. Some people like myself have that drive to provide. Wal-Mart sucks if you're trying to provide for your family. I had to quit. I hopped on at another job for full time and quit at Wal-Mart without putting my 2 weeks in. I felt it was fair for all the times they cut my hours and left me struggling without pay.
