Information about ping your site please

I was wondering if some one could help me

I have heard from other members on other forums talking about ping your forum but i am not to sure what the heck they are talking about and how this would help my forum>??

pinging a website notifys search engines about new content on your site, thus getting the s.e's to crawl and index your site more often.

Ok but how do i go about getting this i have been on google and all i can seem to find is ping your ip or ping your blog???

you can get tools to ping your site on new content from most forum softwares mod database 🙂 i can reccomend a good vbulletin one.

Ok and will that work on forum software???? or is it just for a Vbulletin one??

just the vb one, but im sure if you go to your forum software's website they will have one for it.

So does it do this after you create new topics and stuff like that if it's a forum? Am I interpreting that right?
