In the zip you downloaded is a file called install.xml, open that in your browser. All the installation instructions are in there.

See if this thread is any better: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... 1&t=724145 as it contains the instructions to install mods for phpBB3, and not phpBB2 😉
Well then I guess I was looking at the wrong place!

when I right click it, it just has an open place, you can't select what you want to open it with and when I try, it opens with dreamweaver

Open Firefox or IE first and use the File - Open File menu instead.

When it opens in dreamweaver select file>preview in browser>firefox, that should open it in a new tab in firefox ( or IE if you selected IE).

Under that tab you should now see a list of instructions. Follow those instructions to the letter.

One word of caution MOD's get more difficult to install the more MOD's you install, this is because MOD installation instrcutions refer to the files in a vanilla installation of phpBB, edits can alter these files.
If you use dreamweaver to do your edits, when you save do not choose "update links" this can cause MODS to fail.

yeah I didn't mean to open it in dreamweaver it just did but I figured it out 😀 I am struggling through the FTP stuff but I think i can figure it out 🙂

You get use to it! I use cPanel to do mine, as it means I don't have to change from FTP, to cPanel etc.

AutoMOD.

Get AutoMOD, and this wont happen. But you'll have to install it, but it's easy.

Upload all contents from inside the root folder but not the actual folder called root.

Install the mod by going to Yourforum.com/install and then go to the ACP and click AutoMOD.

From there, easy sailing.

AutoMOD doesn't do the style edits. :/

True

But the style edits are fairly easy compared to the rest, and doing those is a good introduction to editing other files, a lot of us started off as copy/paste coders
