Use AutoMOD?

Or download a mod and look for the install.xml which will walk you through everything.

Note: The guide is a little outdated, however should still provide you with enough info to be able to understand the installing process of mods.

I highly recommend the service at TheHazey. Rich is great at installing mods and he gets it done in a timely manner. You should practice on a test board before doing it to your actual forum.
