really like talking about music and sharing cool tracks and such. I've been really motivated to make a music sharing/discussion forum and I'm wondering if we could talk about that premise? Maybe ideas for what that kind of features a music forum could incorporate and such. Thoughts?
I really know that this is a pretty general and not-so-niche niche for a forum but I'm more interested in building a small community and making friends and meeting people to talk to about all genres of music as opposed to becoming some huge does-it-all forum you know?
That is a great idea! It would be really good to have a place where you could go and talk about music to people who take an interest in it as much as you do.
As far as music forums in general, I think one thing that they need would be an emphasis on what kind of music their site is about, whether it's from all kinds of music to certain genre's of music.
A music forum I would also think should have some kind of music player, one that doesn't play automatically but one that gives the members a little playlist of music to listen to. A radio station would also be neat however I have no idea how to go about those or how much those even cost, if anything.
Music forums are pretty nice, it's not a niche that most people go for and I have seen it become a challenging niche to get members to enjoy, however there are a few out there doing pretty well. I think it's a niche that does need more great forums, but again I think the emphasis on what kind of music you are about is something that will either make or break the forum.
Although there are many music forums out there. You'd have to really compete to keep your member's interests and offer those members something they don't already have on the other music forum.
It also depends on the music you're wanting to share in conversation with most of those members. I like where you're headed. I will say you have the right idea. 🙂
I've ran a music forum in the past and have considered giving it another go sometime. It can work, but you definitely need to provide something more in this niche - people's music tastes are so varied, trying to capture 'all' music fans might simply lead to keeping none around.
I wouldn't say this means sticking to some predefined cookie cutter genre(s), but you should find a way to lead the direction of the styles of music that'll bring together likeminded people. Think music festival curation - going too broad doesn't satisfy too many people, while there are very diverse lineups that fit together perfectly and create something very special.
I have so much interest in music. It's my second hobby. I can't play any instruments but I love music! All kinds except for that loud heavy metal junk.
