Internet Phone Issue..

Ok, I had to enter my phone number for a few signups for things like PPC (Pay Per Click) and stuff like that..and I did.

So over the last two months this one guy has called me and said "Hey marco!" and I say "uhm..I think you have the wrong number"..

THAT HAPPENED TWICE!!

So today I got a phone call about some BMW purchase or something like that and they called me MARCO again! It wasn't the same guy either!

I think someone is messing with my phone number and my gmail account, because some guy is also signing my email account up for offers and I reported it all spam..right now in my gmail account I have over 3000spam emails from someone using my email account.

This crap is getting scary..

Any advice on what to do?

I don't think there is anything you can really do. Are all the emails coming from the same email address or the same domain? Or are they all coming from a few different companies or are they all from hundreds of different companies as it might be possible to block certain emails if they only come from a small number of emails or you could set up an email filter for common keywords in the emails such as Marco so all emails with Marco in will be deleted.

Companies sell on your email account to places then you get spam mail come through.

Did you read the small print when you entered your number/email into these websites?

Chances are they would say that they will share your email/web with 3rd party companies to offer you deals and such like
