I notice that in real life, people are about 70-80% right-wing (Although not as much as me), but online, it's significantly more left-wing. What do you think would cause this? Just concentration of right-wingers on Stormfront and stuff?

Seriously, though. My theory is that left-wingers are just more attracted to politics than right-wingers, though.

It seems significantly more left-wing online because you live in the United States. The United States is an extreme-right country. In most other [Western] countries, the political landscape is shifted to the left. Therefore, someone who may seem extreme-left to you may only be center-left in reality. 😉

Almost a year later, we can still have the same debate. While the US does have gun rights and no universal health care, the United States is far from extremely right wing. In fact, the political policies of most Western countries is still extremely left wing. Look at the World's Smallest political quiz:

Most European countries would have results in the general area of:

While the United States' would be around:

I've said this a hundred times before, just because you are a socialist doesn't mean that the entire world is extremely right wing. I'd be you would even argue that most European countries are conservative or right wing.

EDIT: Or you could live in Kim Il-Sung land of

😛

I agree with the second reply. And don't forget the former Russian Empire (See what I did there?), since they're against Communism because of the Soviets. I've even met one that wishes the Czar were still around.

Anyway...What about the theory I gave in the first post?

Okay, can someone explain to me what right wing and left wing means? I don't understand that at all.

Right-wing means conservative, and left-wing means liberal.

What happened to my post? Did you guys not read my post about it being to the fact nuke referenced stormfront? Or is the conservative agenda strong with this board.

I used to ask myself that daily. I'd log back in after a day and my post-o-meter would drop by like 20.

In DPRK, I, 김일성, control the media, so there would be mass deletion of posts.

It's a bit agitating when you don't get any reasoning behind it but oh well.

Maybe on the Internet, things are more authoritarian? This would put a spin on the OP (to get on topic 😉).

Yeah that is completely true, no matter how right wing a lot of countries can be, the internet will always be the bastion of political extremes, works for all spectrums.

If you're referring to the authoritarian thing, there are many examples of extreme LEFT wing authoritarian governments, with the majority of them responsible for various genocides.

Yes that is absolutely true, I find the social aspects of a country a lot more important than them being left or right. I might not like tea parties but I'd still choose their ideals over stalin.

For me, economic and social policies are two sides of the same coin. However, I'd still choose a libertarian government with just about any economic system over an authoritarian one.

I was LOLing @ the precise calculation you gave for conservatives in real life as if you had scientifically tested it 😛.

Hah. It's more based on never really meeting anyone left-wing...in Louisiana.

Yeah exactly, Go to Mass and it's the opposite over there.

Down here in Florida I've stayed away from politics since no matter what your opinion is half the people will hate you 😛.

I thought you were in Massachusetts? Lawl.

I just notice it whenever it's brought up, hah.

My dad is actually a lefty though. He still likes Al Gore.

I moved in May. That's funny, I consider myself left but I don't like Al Gore much at all.
