What complex fictional character really intrigues you? For me, it would be Anakin Skywalker, as his life and what he ends up doing with it is interesting to follow.

Uncle Bob has been the most intriguing fictional character that I've ever seen in a movie. It's mainly because he's a machine from the future that became sentient while on his mission to protect John Connor in T-2.

At the beginning of T-2 when Uncle Bob is sent through time to protect John, he's being forced to protect him through his programming. This makes it so Uncle Bob doesn't have a choice. When John and Sarah decide to reset his CPU, they're setting him free from his programming and allowing to learn and behave in a human like manner. This allows Uncle Bob to make a choice and he decides that he "chooses" to protect John when he learns that he doesn't have to follow his programming. Towards the end of the movie, this is evident when Uncle Bob refuses to follow several of John Connor's orders.

In this scene. Uncle Bob says he must be terminated at which John yells " No, I order you no to go! I order you not to go!" and which Uncle Bob replies that he must go away and finally gives his final quote "I know now why you cry. But its something I can never do."

Which is evident that he's refusing a direct order. That clearly displays that he has free will to make his own decisions outside of his program perimeters.
