Are investing and gambling very similar or different?
I hear a lot of people say they invest in the stock market, and foreign money like exchanging Canadian dollars for American dollars in hopes that the American dollar will rise.
But, people hardly say they invest in a poker game in hopes that their winnings make them rich.
The definition of investing http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/investment sounds sort of like Gambling http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/gambling , but the difference is Gambling is higher risk and more lucrative in the short term. Plus, gambling usually involve some card games, slot machine, horse racing, and betting on sports events in most dictionaries.
I do neither by the way since both sounds risky. Plus, I don't have much cash to gamble or invest anyways.
